When I was young, every serious new job used to seem for a while, maybe a long time, to be beyond my powers.“Bertrand Russell – “How I Write”, The writerSeptember 1954.

Writing essays, articles, and research papers sometimes seems out of reach. Surely, organization and persistence are the keys in the writing process. Below are seven suggestions for writing an essay:

1. Separate the different parts of the process. associated with writing: research, inspiration, organizing ideas, writing, and editing.

two. Make a list (10-20 items). Simply write down phrases, keywords, definitions, questions, images, and everything related to the topic (the main topic of the essay). And then bring together in big themes the ideas that can be connected.

3. Build an essay structure (template): title, opening sentence, background, scope statement, thesis statement (or position statement), body of thought (with at least three main points and supporting points), and conclusion (summary paragraph). All supporting paragraphs in the main body should have a strong organization, namely: Topic Award, Evidence, Comment, and Final Award. Essays have many purposes, but the basic structure is the same.

Four. Work on the individual sections.: Write the main body first, then the introduction, title, and conclusion. And expand these sections: always use concrete and clear examples to argue your thesis.

5. Edit and close the paragraphs.. Notice the logical link between the paragraphs and use appropriate transition sentences. Introductory words like “Indeed”, “Equally important”, “All things considered”… are an “additional advantage” as they show a knowledge of literary language. In a word, the essay should flow smoothly.

6. check cohesion or the sense of development, verifying if the statement of the thesis is working as a unifying spark.

7. Check due to grammatical and editorial errors.
