If you’ve been looking for a new Blu-ray player recently, you’ve probably noticed that many of them come with the new 3D support. But is it worth buying a 3D Blu-ray player right now with this new technology, or is it better to wait?
If you already have a 3D TV then it’s pretty safe to go ahead and buy a compatible blu-ray player right away. They are not priced much higher than the standard players at the moment and they greatly increase the amount of content available for you to watch.
3D technology continues to grow, so there aren’t many shows and movies available to take home in that format just yet, but they are definitely on their way and more are being added every day. Having a 3D Blu-ray player at home will allow you to take advantage of movies that have already been released, even if it’s still a small number.
Before making a purchase decision, it can be helpful to take a look at what shows and movies are currently available to see if any of them match your interests. Again, the number of programs available continues to grow, which means that a 3D player is probably still worth buying as an investment for the future.
However, if you don’t already have a 3D TV so you might look at it a little differently, because it’s still early technology and buying something early usually means you’ll pay a higher price up front. IN a few years, compatible players (and movie discs) are likely to drop in price. So if you can wait for a while, it will surely save you some money.
And if you don’t already have a 3DTV, you don’t just need a new TV. You also need the glasses for each viewer that is watching and maybe a few extras for when you have guests over. It can add up to a lot of money very quickly.
All that said, Blu-ray players are reasonably affordable at the moment compared to similar products on the market. Sure, you can buy a 3D Blu-ray player without having the expensive TV right now and still be able to watch movies and stream media, etc., and then when you upgrade your TV, you can take advantage of the compatibility.
Starting with the Blu-ray player before the TV might be an even better idea. The technology evolves almost day by day and there are some companies working on creating a working 3DTV. without have to wear special glasses. That update is probably still quite a way off, but it seems like they’re determined to figure it out and release it.
