Starbucks Nutrition is not available on their website. So if you love a cup of coffee, then it’s important that you learn what you should and shouldn’t drink.

You could be drinking a 600 calorie drink, full of sugar and fat, without even knowing it! In this case, ignorance is not bliss, especially if you are trying to lose weight after pregnancy.

Here are 3 tips to get you through your next coffee stop at Starbucks so you don’t drink the equivalent of an entire meal in your coffee drink.

Tip #1: Skinny Drinks

Starbucks offers a variety of “skinny” drinks. These skinny drinks have sugar-free syrup, non-fat milk, and no whipped cream. An example would be a tall skinny vanilla latte. You can have your coffee fix for 90 calories. Not bad for a sweetened coffee drink.

If you don’t like flavored coffees and prefer the taste of straight coffee, opt for a 60-calorie fat-free tall cappuccino. This is an even better option than skinny flavored drinks.

Or, if you really want to cut calories, buy a tall Americano or just brewed coffee. The Americano has 10 calories and the brewed coffee has only 5 calories. But remember, once you start adding cream and sugar, the calories start to add up.

Tip #2: Skip the cake

It can be hard to resist pastries when you’re shopping for your cup of coffee, especially when baristas offer you samples at the counter! But, you may be better off passing on the zucchini walnut muffin for 490 calories. Who knew that something with zucchini would have so many calories?

Imagine if you had that plus a tall white mint mocha, and you’re looking at a total of 930 calories! That’s a lot of calories for a small coffee and cake.

If you’re hungry, a better option would be the 300-calorie Strawberry Blueberry Yogurt Parfait. Add that in with your skinny vanilla latte and your breakfast alone adds up to 390 calories. Not a bad way to start the day.

Tip #3: Try tea instead

There has been a lot of hype lately for tea, that is, green tea for weight loss. If you opted for the brewed Tazo tea, your drink has 0 calories.

To lose weight, you basically want to burn more calories than you consume. Drinking tea can save you calories in your weight loss efforts.

Also, green tea has health benefits. Benefits like fighting cancer and heart disease, lowering cholesterol, burning fat, stopping diabetes and stroke, and postponing dementia.

So next time you’re in the mood for coffee, remember these Starbucks nutrition facts. When you know what you’re eating and drinking, you’re in a better position to lose all or more of the weight you gained during pregnancy.
