Of course you don’t remember the Alamo, we couldn’t have been there. However, we have heard it told throughout history and we know the meaning of the battle. It was a pivotal point in Texas history when Mexico launched a 12-day attack on the Alamo mission. On February 23, 1836, a group of Mexican soldiers, 1,500 in all, descended on what is now known as Texas to claim it as their own. After 12 days of skirmishes, Mexican troops made a third attempt to infiltrate the Alamo on March 6. This time they were successful and the Texan troops did not have the manpower and could not fight them.

On April 12 of that same year, Texan’s launched a surprise attack on Fort Lynchburg where the Mexican military was caught off guard and the battle ended in 18 minutes. The next day, Mexican President Santa Anna was captured and forced to “remember the Alamo” and order Mexican troops to leave the new republic now known as Texas.
