A heart for the peaceful player

The XBox360 has always had an open mind for the Hardcore-Gamer, but there has been a new target audience for game developers and publishers: the casual gamer. And we all know that playing non-shooting games and non-violent games can be a lot of fun too. In this same field a nice form of Franchise has been noticed. It started with LEGO Star Wars and continued with LEGO Batman and LEGO Indiana Jones. The latter has been especially appreciated by gamers, a well-established gaming community ranked the guy in the leather jacket and the wip in 3rd place. Jump ‘n Run of the best kind. But the first two places are occupied by two of the Music Game Genres, of which we have seen quite a few lately. He started with the plastic guitar controller and Guitar Hero did very well. But that was not the end. Rock Band began to be enjoyed by the masses, now they also wanted to play guitars, microphones and drums. Activision did the same thing in Guitar Hero: World Tour and this game secured second place. The king of the genres became Electronic Arts’ Rock Band, which followed with a sequel in 2008 with

Rock Band 2 Level up your life

Well-made, epic RPGs are still rare on MS-Console. But these games are on the move and some gems made their way onto Xbox 360 shelves in 2008. Especially when it comes to Japano-Role games. Probably the most loved game within the Asian genre was Lost Odyssey, an epic fairy tale about the immortal hero Kaim, on a search for his long-lost memories, thus ranking 3rd. It covers a total of four (!) DVDs. and runs exclusively on the Xbox 360.

The Storyteller of the Games Peter Molyneux has presented one of his highly recommended Games (for him, of course…). Again exclusively for Xbox 360 we got the sequel to the famous Xbox-Game Fable. A fairy tale story and somewhat irritating Sims-Elements is what this game is all about. Fans loved it though and it’s not really a bad game either. Rank 2 for Fable 2.

All the way to number one he shot a special title, being the number one contestant for Game of the Year: Fallout 3. The adventures of the little Vault Dweller, right in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Washington DC, has gained many fans. At the end of the year.

Sports games in 2008

Now, where would the World of Games be without the great Sports Games? In this genre there were many very good titles that we could not include in our small ranking. Position 3 is shared by two games. First of the third round of Top Spin, loved by tennis fans. That also goes for all football fans with Madden NFL 09, which introduced more innovations in 2008. In Europe, the top two positions went to: 2. Ranking: Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and NHL 09 / NHL 2K9. The winner, with 79% of the votes. was: FIFA 09. But other games from different sports made their appearance in 2008, such as NBA Live 09 and NBA 2K9. Even golfers enjoyed very good games with Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 09.

Let’s look at the “Runners”. Not only motorsports simulations, but also “pedal to the metal” arcade-type games were hugely successful last year. These Fun Racers are the most liked. In 2007, Colin McRae: DIRT entered the charts and did very well. Followed in 2008 by the same team, Race Driver GRID impressed their fans. Very interesting street racing with attractive graphics helped this game get number 3. A small but very nice game surprised the Xbox 360 community – Pure. Speeding through the corners of the world with a quad, spectacular and acrobatic tricks with monster jumps! Pure fun for almost anyone and therefore position 3 in the Racer category. And also in the “Surprises of the Year”!

But there is no end in sight. Developer Criterion made an impact with the Burnout series years ago. Part 4 of the series began to work, as: Burnout Paradise. The mix of “Open Reality”, impressive speed with daredevil jumps and a lot of fender bends still keeps its fans. Perhaps another reason is free updates with valuable stuff delivered in a timely manner. So the number one position goes to Racer-Town “Paradise City”.
