Whether you’re a frequent visitor to Puerto Rico or planning to visit for the first time, you’ll want to experience everything the city has to offer. It is well known that it is great for surfing, beaches, a unique culture and nightlife. But if you would like to have a more personal experience, perhaps you would like to experience life in a Parador.

A Parador or paradores is a reference to a small country inn. In order to encourage tourism, the city has a government program where people can include their places of stay. Of course, they will have to be of good quality and have a good acceptance rate. Typically, these ranches are located in close proximity to popular attractions or historic sites. If you are also looking for a traditional food dining experience, then you also have the option to choose those places. You can easily have a Gastronomic Mesón in the hotel where you stay.

The best way to recognize a Parador is by its appearance, Taino grass that will be found in the signs as well as in the logos of these different Paradors. Your stay will truly be incomplete without a visit to one of these. This system of stay was first started by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company in 1973 and was influenced by a similar program established in Spain. If you’re nervous about the number of Paradores on offer, here are some areas you can look into.

Mayagüez is the town that houses the only zoo on the island and is also home to one of the largest universities in Puerto Rico and is located on the west side of the island. You could also look for an ideal parador that will be located between a cafe and a sugar plantation. You’ll find this guy on the southeast coast of the island. Look out from the start of a scenic road and you’ll be sure to get some mesmerizing views of the island. On the shore, a few minutes from the bioluminescent bay, there is another sport to watch. It has a number of tours and attractions to look forward to.

These are some places in Puerto Rico that you can visit and be sure that you will have a great time being here for the rest of your tour.
