It seems that the more insurance you have, the higher the rates. Physicians now earn substantially more than they did proportionately a few years ago. While they know that their patients can recoup most of the cost of their service, they rarely get an argument from them. In Australia we have the Medicare system that covers everything for those who do not have private health.

The previous Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, placed this additional burden on people that they must have health insurance. Only pensioners over the age of 75 are now covered by mass billing. That is, they are not charged and the government pays them. Before the Abad changes, everyone had this kind of benefit, but the cost was unsustainable.

Due to that increase in fees, the government is now looking at ways to reduce it further. The increase in the population of immigrants abroad is putting an additional burden on the system. Some of these people will go to two or three doctors in the same day thinking they will get better faster. Some also obtain additional drugs and sell them abroad.

Modern medicine is expensive and now veterinarians are also on par with the medical profession when it comes to fees. The debate that they study more or less the same is a logical statement, but when one does not have insurance against their bills, it is quite difficult for many to pay it. Pet ownership is suffering as a result.

We cannot go back to the old systems because it becomes too complicated. Once people earn more, it’s hard to take it off again. This is yet another dilemma facing the government as there seems to be no way they can force a decrease in the cost of medical bills covered by their program. The cost of private insurance is also rising beyond what most can now afford.
