A home remedy for yeast infection is berberine. Berberine is an alkaloid found in herbs like goldenseal, barberry, and Oregon grape. It fights the excessive growth of Candida and parasites (especially amoebas) and normalizes the intestinal flora. Berberine boosts the immune system, soothes inflamed mucous membranes, and helps with diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. It is very well tolerated and generally has no side effects.

Betaine and pepsin hydrochloride, as well as other stomach acidifiers like glutamic acid and stomach bitters, dissolve Candida and fungi in the stomach. Antacids and acid-suppressing drugs such as cimetidine and ranitidine cause fungal infections by eliminating the fungal protective effect of hydrochloric acid. However, excess acid can cause severe heartburn and lead to gastritis or peptic ulcer. The need for acid supplementation must be determined by tests ordered by a naturalist physician.

One of these tests is the CSDA (Complete Stool and Digestive Analysis). To correct low heartburn, most naturopaths recommend starting the home remedy for treating yeast infections by taking a capsule of betaine and pepsin hydrochloride (10 grains) with the first large meal. If tolerated, increase to two capsules at the next large meal and continue to increase to a maximum of six capsules per large meal or to the point where you feel a warm sensation in your stomach. Smaller meals require proportionally lower doses of betaine. and pepsin.

A warm feeling means that you have taken in more human or acid needed to fully digest your protein. At the next big meal, take less than the dose that produced the heat and stay at that dose until the feeling of heat returns. Then reduce the betaine and pepsin dose again.

This treatment is continued until one capsule per large meal produces the sensation of heat, then the treatment is stopped. At this point, the stomach has healed enough to secrete adequate amounts of acid on its own. Smaller meals (a sandwich, for example) require less betaine, and a warming sensation in your stomach will alert you to an overdose.

When taking more than two capsules per meal, it is best to take the capsules during the meal at five minute intervals. For most young adults, the entire home remedy for treating yeast infection will take an average of three months. During this time, it’s best to avoid dairy and gluten-containing foods (all grains except rice), as sensitivity to these two food categories is often the reason for low stomach acid in the first place.
