Let’s start with Patricia Anne Isgate, independent film producer and owner of UK-based production company Southern Rising Productions and co-owner of Southern Belle Pictures. Her movie Latin Quarter has been creating quite a stir with its eclectic cast and subject matter. Latin Quarter begins filming in the UK this spring.

Tell us about your latest exciting project, Latin Quarter:

“The film is based on the memoir of Pablo Picasso’s lover, Fernande Oliver. The story follows Picasso and his friend Carlos Casagemas during their early years in Paris and Carlos’s tragic end, which was the catalyst that split the minds of Picasso and gave birth to Cubism. We’ll be shooting on location in the UK in March. We hope to stay as close to the heritage as possible and will take a grassroots approach to production to create an intimate atmosphere for the actors.”

And do you have any high-profile names working on the film?

“Certainly! We have some amazing actors involved in fantastic movies under our belt: Q’orianka Kilcher (The new World)Avant Jogia (Victorious)Oliver Phelps (tea Harry Potter films)Golden Globe winner Amanda Donohoe (The Madness of King George)John Ratzenberger (the toy story films), Kevin Sorbo (Meet the Spartans) Dean Cain (out of time)and Oscar winner Martin Landau (ed wood). Everyone is very passionate about the project. Gary Van HaasWriterThe icon) has painted an intriguing look at the world and mind of Pablo Picasso”.

Will you use new filming techniques in the field?

“We will build on a traditional approach to develop new and inventive ways to tell the story. I find that ‘tried and tried’ methods tend to be the most effective way to communicate with the audience. However, we are always looking to push the boundaries of tradition to set a new standard.

“We will definitely experiment with movement and light to create a sense of early 20th-century Paris. We want the audience to feel like they’ve gone back in time with the story rather than looking at it from a third-person perspective.” “

Has the project helped you raise your profile as a film producer?

“A leading producer latin quarter It has been a challenge and a wonderful opportunity for me. There has been a great deal of excitement about being associated with this project. I think everyone involved will benefit from the experience.”

What’s next on the horizon for you?

“I hope to start production in One more day later next year. One more day is a raunchy independent thriller set to be shot in the UK. Then there’s the project I’ve been championing for years with my producing partner Tammi Sutton called my prisoner an incredible true story, set during World War II, written by the boy who lived it and grew up to tell it 60 years later. We hope to shoot that project next summer.

Will you take the film to the festival circuit?

I will certainly apply to festivals. Being in competition with the movie would be great, it’s like a rite of passage for an independent movie. Without the festival circuit, the indie scene would be lost. It is where artists congregate and draw inspiration from their universities. If we don’t support and get involved in festivals, the underground independent movement will fade and the industry as a whole will stagnate. Festivals are very valuable to the independent community. I can not wait.”
