For many people, strength is not determined by a person’s willpower or ability to stand up for their beliefs. Instead, it is measured by physical progress. The reality is that even the physically strongest person can be weak, and the individual perceived as the weakest can actually be strong. A strong person can still feel weak at times, get tired, discouraged, and even contemplate giving up in certain situations. There are many fictional characters that have been considered very strong, but they are only strong because of the stories written for them. Jesus was a real individual who carried the weight of the world and gave his life for our sins.

Even when you are strong, there may be times when weakness surfaces. Jesus was tempted just like us. He felt tired, disillusioned, and even considered giving up at times. Jesus even wanted to avoid difficult situations when possible. The Bible tells us that he faced many temptations and experienced weakness at times. He overcame these temptations and weakness in order to continue his journey and purpose. What made Jesus strong enough to keep going and not give in to despair? He had a responsibility and he carried it to the end. This is where the line between weak and strong appears. Everyone has responsibilities just as Jesus did, and how they choose to handle them determines whether they are strong or weak. Neither physical ability nor any other factor.

Weak people crack when the going gets tough. They give up and run away from difficult tasks or situations. Jesus refused to give up and accepted the responsibility for him. He denied the temptation and went ahead with his task. It can be hard to keep going when it can seem so easy to give up. A bigger cause can help because it’s easy to give up on ourselves, but it’s not so easy to give up when others depend on us to keep going. By trusting God and having some of the weight He has carried on our shoulders, giving up is not an option. When you have done all you can do, the Bible tells us to stand with the Lord and be strong. Look inside and be faithful to your responsibilities. The Lord will give you the strength you need to get rid of temptation and move on.

Every day it is more difficult for people to continue with their responsibilities. Giving up is not the way out. Use your faith in God and his strength to keep doing the right things. God will provide the answers to help you get through these difficult times. Opportunities will present themselves as long as you continue to trust God. When you feel weak and times are hard, call on a higher power for answers and additional strength. He will provide for you and give you everything you need as long as you remain faithful to him. Don’t be weak and give up. Instead, get stronger and face your barriers head on with the full intention of never giving up.
